LESNAR vs COUTURE
So here it is one of the biggest mma fights ever. This is one of those fights that where ever you go you are wrong and right. Couture has continued to look like a different Couture than he did the last time he was at heavyweight the biggest issue though I think we all know is his age. And a 15 month layoff on top of that makes it difficult to pick him but he is a top 5 heavyweight fighting a guy with 3 fights. Brock is here because hes a draw and Randy wanted a payday. He’s not ready for this fight really. He should have fought atleast 2 more fighters before getting even a shot at a fighter the calibre of Randy. But just like the last 2 fights for Brock he doesn’t want cake walks and that is something to respect. Randy will be about 50-80lbs smaller than Brock on fight night and unlike against GG and Sylvia he will also lack a strength and wrestling advantage. He may have a striking advantage and Cardio advantage but we don’t really know yet. There are way too many question marks in this fight. For some reason I am leaning toward Lesnar but would be elated if captain america could prove us all wrong again.
GONZAGA vs HENDRICKS
Hendricks is very familiar with Gabe gonzaga he guy that helped train Randy for his fight with Gabe. A win by either man would put them in the top ten and into heavyeight title contention. Hendricks is going to push Gabe and try to break him. If Gabe hasn’t fixed those holes in his game he will likely win. On paper everything is going for Gonzaga but this is a much closer fight this is the upset bet of the night. But i still think Gonzaga wins by submission.
STEVENSON vs FLORIAN
A year ago this would be more difficult to pick but right now its hard to pick a single advantage for Stevenson. He maybe stronger and a better wrestler but Florian could certainly take him down. I feel like Florian will be the better striker and be slightly better on the ground. I wanna see what will happen if Kenny comes out like he did against Lauzon. I think if that happens we could see a Florian TKO 1st round.
MAIA vs QUARRY
Ground god vs great sprawl and Brawl. This is one of those fights thats easy and hard to call. Team quest vs a ground specialist usually means the team quest fighter wins. But Maia has a spark to me he seems like a real fighter. He trains striking with Wanderlei Silva and I believe he will be aggressive in the clinch and eventually get his trip and get the fight to the floor where he will finish the fight quickly.
HAZLETT vs MCCRORY
two big goofy and well rounded fighter. They are earily similar in alot of ways. i think Hazlett has the ground advantage. Look for the huge MCCRory to keep it standing and very quickly a brawl will ensue. I think Hazlett drops the slightly stranger looking fighter in the 2nd.
STEPHENS vs DOS ANJOS
Classic striker vs ground fighter scenario except the toss up is the wrestling. Stephens has pretty decent wrestling but Dos Anjos wrestling is underated do to the face that he hasn’t yet fought the same calibre of fighters. I think in the end the submission specialist usually wins. I’ll take Dos Anjos by armbar.
ROBINSON vs BOCEK
Another under the radar lightweight fight between two light weights that have pretty much proven themselves not to be elite. A lose and you’re out scenario at its best. I will say Bocek has the better striking and that will be the deciding factor. Bocek by UD.
GURGEL vs RILEY
In a sortof lets give Gurgel another beating type of fight he will fight good striker in Aaron Riley. I will say Riley will win pretty convincingly that will finally put Gurgel either in the WECs 145 division or in another organization.
THOMAS vs BROWN
Taking a fight on short notice niether fighter has had enough time to prepare for the other that usually gives the harder stiker an advantage. I say Brown by TKO rd 2
